I wanted to share some practical tips on how to start building self-discipline. Why? Because having discipline is so important for achieving our goals, managing stress, and just feeling more in control of our lives in general.
The idea of completely overhauling your habits and becoming a "disciplined person" can feel really daunting.
But here's the good news: you don't have to do it all at once. Building self-discipline is a process that you can start taking baby steps towards right now.
I'm going to share 5 habits you can start implementing over the next 30 days to get yourself headed in the right direction. The key is making small, sustainable changes rather than trying to transform overnight. Small, consistent wins are what really create momentum over the long run.
Habit 1: Make your bed every morning.
Yes, really! Making your bed is such an easy little win to start your day. It only takes a couple minutes but sets a tone of accomplishment before your feet even hit the floor. Bonus points if you do it first thing, before checking your phone or emails.
Habit 2: Meal prep one day a week.
Cooking healthy, home-cooked meals saves money and helps you avoid last-minute drive-thru temptations. Doing some prep on your day off means you've got easy, portable lunches and dinners ready to go for busy work nights. Cooking in bulk is so satisfying.
Habit 3: Commit to daily exercise, even if it's just 10 minutes.
Getting your body moving each day is important for both physical and mental health. When time is tight, opt for a 10-minute YouTube yoga flow or dance party in your living room. Every bit helps - you've got this!
Habit 4: Limit recreational screen time.
It's way too easy to lose hours scrolling mindlessly. Be intentional about when and how you use devices, setting a specific screen-free time for reading or another relaxing non-digital activity.
Habit 5: Journal your progress and stay accountable.
Take 5 minutes each evening to jot down what went well that day and whatever habit you're focusing on. Reviewing your progress keeps you motivated as the little changes start to add up over time.
I hope you'll try incorporating one or two of these habits over the next 30 days. Remember - progress over perfection. You've got this!
Wishing you growth and success,
